Rafa Benitez has a couple of injury concerns ahead of the new season. New signing Fabio Aurelio is struggling with a calf injury, and Luis Garcia is sidelined with an injury to his neck.
However, Benitez’ Liverpool starting eleven looks strong with the signings of Jermaine Pennant and Craig Bellamy, and the Reds will be looking to start the season well, and therefore be an instant challenge to champions Chelsea.
Liverpool’s pre-season has not been a pleasant one, after losing all three of their matches on a Scandinavian tour. The most recent match against Mainz ended in a 5-0 defeat… However, this may be the kick-start that the Anfield faithful needed in order to hit the ground running on August 19th.
