Team Watch: Everton

David Moyes will be looking to his new signings to both solidify Everton’s defence and bolster their forward line. Joleon Lescott was signed from Wolves for £5m, and will be looking to form a defensive partnership with club captain David Weir.

Up front, the key question is whether new signing Andy Johnson will be able to link up with his strike partner, James Beattie. If they hit it off, this could be a good season for the Toffees.

YTM’s predicted starting XI vs Watford on 19th August:

GK: Wright/Howard

DR: P Neville
DC: Weir
DC: Lescott
DL: Valente

MR: Davies
MC: Arteta
MC: Kilbane
ML: McFadden

SC: Beattie
SC: Johnson

What do you think of Everton’s chances for Europe next season?
Will Johnson prove he is worth the money Moyes paid for him?

Howard will start in goal. Hibbert will play right back with Phil Neville as the defensive midfielder alongside Arteta. Kilbane likely to start on the bench.

Howard Kendall has urged Moyes to play Neville in midfield, but Moyes seems to want him to play in the full-back position, as Hibbert is struggling to be fit for the first couple of games.
You could be right about Kilbane though as I forgot about Lee Carsley... A final swansong for the battling midfielder? YTM
