FA Community Shield - Liverpool 2 - 1 Chelsea

A lively Community Shield match ended in Liverpool lifting the trophy, and Jose Mourinho wondering what went wrong with his star-studded line-up.

Peter Crouch got the winner in the 80th minute with a header following some good work from Craig Bellamy… Their partnership is off to a flier with the season’s start just around the corner.

Andriy Shevchenko was on the scoresheet for Chelsea, and his communication with Frank Lampard is already clear for all to see, as Lampard’s 40-yard flighted ball found Sheva on the run, and the finish was inevitable.

Whether this is a sign for the season to come remains to be seen, but Liverpool, as well as the rest of the chasing pack in the Premiership, will take heart from Chelsea’s show of vulnerability.
