EURO 2008 Qualifier thoughts...

Ok, I'm rubbish at International predictions! My 0 for 5 at the weekend clearly backs this up, so I have decided not to predict the games tonight, but give some thoughts as to how the games might unfold... A cheeky way of predicting without 'predicting', I think you will all agree!

Scotland are away to Ukraine tonight. It was a heroic performance at Hampden at the weekend, and they will be going into this with their spirits at an all-time high. I think Walter Smith is doing a fantastic job as the National team coach, and hopefully they will have enough to come back with something tonight.

Rep of Ireland suffered their most humiliating defeat for a long time on Saturday against Cyprus, and they face a tough test against the Czechs tonight. Steve Staunton's men will desperately want to restore some national pride, but Czech Republic are a lot stronger then Cyprus, and it is going to be an uphill struggle for Keane and company.

Wales were also heavily beaten at the weekend, when they were expected (by me, at least!) to win at a canter. Now they face Cyprus, who will be bouyed by their thumping of the Irish Republic. Wales miss Giggs, and they will probably be happy with a clean sheet tonight. That might not happen, but I think they should get at least a point.

Croatia haven't lost a competitive game at home for a very long time, and it would be a fool to bet against that record remaining intact after this game. England were really poor against Macedonia at the weekend, and McLaren has responded with a revised 3-5-2. In my opinion it looks much more like a 5-3-2, but I'm no international manager!

Finally, Northern Ireland play Latvia. Lawrie Sanchez' boys came away with a point at the weekend, and will be loooking to get at least that again tonight against a mediocre Latvian line-up. I hope Healy gets on the scoresheet again. Did you know, that statistically, David Healy is the greatest Northern Irish player of all time? I think the late, great George Best was probably better, thus proving that statistics can be used to prove anything!

Enough from me, I'm going to see if England can bounce back with a win. COME ON ENGLAND!!

Cheers!
